Printer Ammonia
The process of creating copies of blueprints revolves around light transmission. The original drawing is exposed to the light coming from a blueprint machine’s lamp. Then, the details are created on a blank sheet of paper only on the parts that are not exposed to light. Before starting this process, the blank paper is first sensitized to light by mixing a light-sensitive chemical or a diazonium salt, a reactant, and a coupler that combines the salt to the paper. Light exposure removes the salt from the paper and the newly printed paper is then developed with the use of ammonia. Lastly, the ammonia solution produces the blue lines by fusing the reactant to the residual diazonium salt that was not exposed to the light. Here on Engineer Warehouse, there are printer ammonia solutions available for order. These solutions come in cartridges or in cases of two or four gallons. The jugs containing gallons of ammonia solutions can be easily connected to the tubing of a blueprint machine. With these large quantities of ammonia, users can reproduce a great number of blueprints.
