Chaining Pins

In surveying, one of the oldest and simplest methods used to measure distances is chain surveying. This method makes use of a surveyor’s chain, which has graduations to help in taking linear measurements. After measuring the distance with the use of this chain-style tape, the next step is marking the points of the lengths.
