Flame Resistant Shirts
Those exposed to energized equipment and parts are at risk of getting injured from arc flashes. These electrical explosions are commonly caused by electrical arc faults and accidental contact with energized systems. Temperatures of arc flashes can reach up to 35,000 degrees Fahrenheit, and needless to say, they can result in serious to fatal burn injuries. Electricians and anyone working on or near electrical equipment should wear flame resistant shirts, which are available in different sizes here on Engineer Warehouse. Because these shirts have received Arc Ratings, they can reduce the burn injuries of wearers in the event of an arc flash. They are made of modacrylic fabric, which makes the shirts flame resistant, durable, and soft as well. Most of these shirts have long sleeves to completely protect the upper bodies of wearers against arc flashes. These flame resistant shirts also meet ANSI 107 Class 3 high-visibility requirements. This means that they can be worn on job sites with struck-by hazards. They have brightly-colored background materials and reflective materials, so wearers can be clearly seen in low light conditions. The sides of some shirts are made of black material to contrast the shirts’ bright colors.
