The National Fire Protection Association requires those working with or around electrical equipment to wear flame resistant apparel—and for a good reason. Since electrical equipment and its energized parts may cause arc flashes, workers should be safe and well-protected in clothing that can reduce burn injuries. If you’re working in this kind of area during cold weather, flame resistant outerwear can protect you against arc flashes as well as cold temperature conditions. The flame resistant outer garments that are available here on Engineer Warehouse are compliant with both Arc 2 and ANSI 107 regulations. This means that they can provide wearers with sufficient protection in areas with arc flash hazards and in low light settings. An Arc Rating means that the garment has already undergone a three-second flash fire test with a passing rate of 50% total body burn. An ANSI 107 compliant garment, on the other hand, meets the requirements for high-visibility background material and reflective material. Most of these outer garments are hoodies that are made of modacrylic material with fleece lining. They have slash pockets to store tools and to keep the hands warm. These hoodies can definitely provide wearers with warmth and arc flash protection.
